"When we were the recipient of the 100 Women Grant, we utilized the funds for purchasing cleaning supplies and first aid kits. This may not seem like a huge item, or one that others would perceive as something that would make a difference to women and children accessing our services….we often had people who were overwhelmed by the kindness of others.

The kits were not something “extra” such as a gift certificate or toiletry basket, they were something that made a difference in the lives of others. Cleaning and first aid supplies are often the last items on the shopping list for clients, unless they have extra money after purchasing their groceries, gas and paying rent. It is something many of us take for granted.

By enabling people who are struggling at this time in their life, to keep their house clean, have bandages and extras in their home when they or their children are not feeling well, makes that journey or bump in the road, a whole lot easier.

A great concept in regards to your campaign. Really unique and speaks to all…..”Community Foundation…Giving that grows.”

Comments from the 100+ Women Committee:

The Bernadette McCann House’s (BMH) mission is to provide safety, support and education to women, children and those who experience abuse, and to work for change that will end abuse. In support of this mission BMH endeavours to provide families with the basics they need to ensure their surroundings are safe and clean. To this end the grant ($1,750) presented to BMH is being used to provide cleaning kits (sponges, mops, soap, etc.) and safety kits (bandages, antibiotic ointment, scissors, etc.) to families in need.
