On March 26th, 2015, we presented Celebrating the Strength Behind the Uniform at Garrison Petawawa.

It was chance to say “Thank You”, and recognize the contribution of 80 women who have contributed positively to the military community. The recipients were nominated by friends and family and each was honored with a pin that read “Above and Beyond”, a sash, recognition certificate, a red rose and other items. Blogger Kim, from She is Fierce, was our guest speaker for the evening, talking about the definition of strength and how it has applied to her as a military spouse.

Without the generous donation from the Pembroke Petawawa District Community Foundation we would not have been able to offer such an incredible ceremony!

The Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre is committed to enriching the lives of individuals and families of the military community through positive action, education, and support. Often women are the unsung heroes who support their troops. The grant ($1,750) from the Foundation went to sponsoring an awards and recognition evening honouring these women.
